See beyond Prague

Private day trips

A whole day beyond Prague with no routes, parking or timetables to worry about. I drive your car, I advise, and I let you enjoy the day at your own pace.

In short: A private day trip is a full day out of Prague in your own car with Jiří Horčička, with commentary in English or Czech. He knows the region around Prague like a guide — not a licensed guide who lectures inside monuments, but a knowledgeable private driver. It’s billed by the hour at CZK 750 (min. 4 h), a full day CZK 7,000 as a cap; entrance fees and fuel are paid by the client.

Who it is for

For foreign guests and couples who want to see more than Prague but would rather not deal with navigation, parking and paying in a foreign currency. It brings driving, language, knowledge and company into a single day — in your own car, or a car I’ll help you rent short-term.

How it works

I collect you at the hotel and off we go in your car. On the way and on site I’ll tell you what’s worth your attention, where to eat well and what to skip. We stop for photos wherever you wish. You set the pace — we can fit in two stops, or savour a single one.

Terezín I drive in a subdued, respectful register — it is a place that calls for a different tone than a day out for pleasure.

FAQ

Are you a guide or a driver?

I’m a knowledgeable private driver, not a licensed guide who lectures inside monuments. On the way and on site I’ll tell you what’s worth seeing, advise you and help arrange tickets — the expert commentary inside an exhibition is a licensed guide’s work.

How much is a full-day trip?

It’s billed by the hour at CZK 750 (four-hour minimum); a full day (10 hours) is CZK 7,000 as a cap by length. So Karlštejn works out around CZK 4,500, Kutná Hora CZK 5,250, Karlovy Vary CZK 6,750, Český Krumlov CZK 7,750.

Who pays for tickets, lunch and fuel?

You pay entrance fees and lunch yourself — I’m glad to arrange them and recommend a restaurant. As we travel in your own car, fuel goes with the car, that is with you; my part is the rate for driving.

I don’t have a suitable car — what then?

I’ll help you arrange a short-term rental in your name; then leave the driving and the whole day to me.

Can we set the pace and the stops?

Of course. The trip is yours — we stop for photos wherever you like and never rush.

Where would you like to go?

Tell me a destination, or just the mood of the day, and I’ll suggest a route. You know the price in advance.
